unique rental for large gatherings

The site has two houses you get to enjoy - The Boathouse and The Keeper's House!  Enough room for twenty people to rest comfortably.

Located on a quiet side street in Douglas and specifically designed for large gatherings.  Six of seven bedrooms in the main house are furnished with queen beds, the seventh bedroom - the children's crew quarters - will sleep four in bunk beds.  Five bathrooms (four full and one half) ensure the competition over bathrooms will be minimized. The Keeper's house (carriage house) has two more bedrooms with matching queen size beds, a sixth bath second kitchen, second fireplace and more room to spread out.

The main house has a dining table with seating for 14 and a large living room make sure that no one will be left out when gathered around the fireplace. The sun porch, library and small office offer more intimate spaces. The fire pit with plenty of complimentary wood, outdoor dining area and the private patios all offer great spaces on warm summer nights.  Also, just added is a new propane grill large enough to cook for your crowd.

New yet warm.  Everything was built new in 2015. The building has been completely rebuilt with quality materials by a Architect/Builder. The wood ceilings, floors and trim make the house warm. Craftsman style mosaic work, original art and creative details add character and charm.

"WOW! Wow! WOW! The Douglas Boathouse was amazing and so much fun. I was very excited to spend the weekend here with family and friends. The property is well thought out, and the new owners are obviously taking it to the next level. It is the perfect place to spend time with friends and family. One of the first things that had my attention was that the lower level, in the main house, was a great space for kids to spread out, play, and plenty of sleeping space. When my kids walked in the door, they immediately went into exploration mode – and I cannot emphasize how excited they were as they plotted their weekend adventures. There was plenty of rooms and beds for everyone to sleep comfortably. I was pleased to find that the house had Wi-fi, and even some cool gadgets laying around that helped your devices automatically connect! And, while I didn’t go to watch TV, I noticed that there were several subscription services available, like Netflix – This was great when the kids needed a little down-time. There were games, puzzles, and even outdoor games at the ready – It made me wonder why I packed anything but clothes and a toothbrush. Less than a block away, my kids were thrilled to find an enormous Root Beer Barrell where they could get Root Beer Floats and other treats. Restaurants, stores, and activities were all close by, and you could ride your bike (or maybe walk) to the nearby Chain Ferry to get to Saugatuck. Bottom line, right at the bottom – The Douglas Boathouse was a top-notch experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a getaway with family and/or friends. I really cant wait to go back."  – Bryson 6/21

"Thank you and thank you for the use of your wonderful house.  I had 4 houses rented to accommodate the many families that came in for the reunion we had at our house and it was fun to see them all but by far we fell in love with the boathouse!  The house is so well thought out, decorated, and with such great little special touches.  You have an amazing talent for design!  I have a friend who builds houses and I brought him over just to see what an incredibly nice job you did!  The family that stayed there, my sister-in-law's family, had a fabulous time and even had some fun with the puppet theater!  Thank you for creating such a special wonderful space to be shared." – Laura
"Had an amazing stay! Love that the bedrooms are equitable so all guests have equal space. The house is gorgeous, the street is quiet. They have every amenity you need and the house is fully stocked whether you want to cook or go out and explore the town. Walking distance to The Barrel that just reopened. Very easy to get downtown. Perfect for an adult getaway and kid friendly, too!" – Carolyn W.  5/21
